# Competitor Analysis

# Headlines

• Having successfully overtaken the endemic competition that pre-dated us in esports we are now left with four primary non-endemic competitors. All of these could be categorised as corporate entities who have huge audiences, but who aren't necessarily focused on the esports market. They also all pre-date Hitmarker, but have allowed us to cut into their market by failing to recognise esports as a unique industry and tailoring their services accordingly.

• With our impending diversification into the wider video game industry we will naturally come up against a lot more endemic competition than we have faced to date. However, we have conducted a thorough analysis of the companies currently operating in the space and don't believe them to present a larger obstacle than our initial endemic competitors in esports did. Following the path that has seen us dominate this space will likely see us dominating the video games space in a similar timeframe.

# Who are our primary competitors?

As well as the few very small competitors we have remaining in the esports industry, we are now in competition with some of the biggest jobs websites in the world, and will be even more so when we transition to posting general video game industry jobs.

However, the benefit here is that these sites are so broad that none focus exclusively on esports and video games, meaning we have been able to make the most of the opportunity to cut into their markets and will be able to continue to do so.

Indeed
Across its entire English-speaking portfolio of websites Indeed is the second-most rich source of esports jobs online, after Hitmarker.

Indeed’s obvious strength is its brand name and it is the natural choice for job listings for many new entrants into the esports industry.

While Indeed currently has Hitmarker beaten in terms of reach and website functionality, our jobs board is much more curated and free of the noise of duplicated listings and recruiter posts.

In the last 12 months, in particular, we have made good inroads into converting companies from Indeed-exclusive users to using Hitmarker alongside, or even instead of, Indeed.

LinkedIn
LinkedIn is the third-most rich source of esports jobs online, but its jobs list is incredibly noisy and often sees duplicated roles posted over and over again (sometimes daily) by recruiters and automated services.

Due to its reach and ease of use, it is still favoured by a large number of companies hiring in esports, but most link their posts to external applications rather than using LinkedIn’s “Easy Apply” feature.

As with Indeed, we have targeted those companies using LinkedIn for their listings and have had good success in converting them to using Hitmarker alongside it, or instead of it.

ZipRecruiter
After Indeed and LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter is the third most popular non-endemic website that companies use to post esports job listings.

It is the most technologically advanced competitor to Hitmarker in the hiring scene and does a fantastic job of selling its feature set to prospective customers.

ZipRecruiter has shown the path Hitmarker can take to succeed in a well-established industry, with a feature set we can replicate and a pricing structure we can follow.

However, it does have a number of drawbacks and weaknesses that we can take advantage of to position ourselves as the principle hiring solution in esports ahead of it.

AngelList
AngelList does not compete with Hitmarker in terms of volume - it has fewer than 100 companies who have ever posted an esports job on the platform - but in terms of reputation, functionality, and usability it remains the gold standard for startup hiring.

The website does not focus specifically on esports and has no direct link to an esports hiring section, but it contains excellent data on hiring companies and is a very trustworthy source for candidates looking to work at startups.

As it isn’t specifically focused on esports it is not much of a threat to Hitmarker’s growth at all.
